Kartell, Italy 1980s

Obviously influenced by the Sottsass’ Memphis movement, this striking example of Italian postmodernism was designed by Anna Castelli Ferrieri for Kartell in 1983. Constructed from injection moulded plastic. The square yellow top sits on top of the rocket inspired base. With minor usage marks and scratching to the top and a small dent to one of the edges.

In the early 90s Verner Panton was commissioned to design the Vilbert chair by IKEA. The idea was to bring excellent design, relatively cheaply to the general public. Only 3000 of them were produced in two colour ways. The run sold out quickly and has since become a design classic.

The chair has a simple construction of mat melamine coated mdf boards. True to IKEA’s modus operandi the Vilbert came flat packed.

In excellent condition with only a few surface scratches. The original Verner Panton label is present.
