Bovenkamp, Netherlands 1960s
Danish cabinet maker Aksel Bender Madsen learnt his trade at the Furniture School at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, graduating in 1940. Thereafter he worked with the famous architects Kaare Klint and Arne Jacobsen until 1943. This beautiful chair marked his work for Dutch company Bovenkamp.
The contrasting oak frames with teak armrests which wrap around the back of the chair are in excellent condition. They body of the chairs have been reupholstered with Designers Guild Cheviot wool, the seat pads and head rest with a slightly more graphic DePloeg weave.
